vSAN 6.7 U1 Deep Dive book now available in Traditional Chinese

A very short post to highlight to my Asian readers that the vSAN 6.7 U1 Deep Dive book has now been translated into Traditional Chinese by Taiwanese company DrMaster. If you are interested in picking up a copy, we have been provided with the following links to web sites where you can purchase the book. This is opportune timing, as VMware has only just announced the newest release of vSAN, version 6.7 U3. Here are the links provided by DrMaster to online book stores in Asia where the book can be found. Tenlong Computer Books. This is the most famous…

Kindle version of Essential Virtual SAN (6.2) is now available!

2 years after the first edition, it’s finally here. The second edition of “Essential Virtual SAN (VSAN)”, the book I co-authored with Duncan Epping, is now available. The folks over at vmusketeers did a rather nice review of the book here. Feel free to take a look at what they think of the book beforehand if you wish. If you do decide to purchase a copy, we’d love to get your feedback/review on Amazon. At the moment, it is only the kindle version that is available. The hard copy of the book should be available at the end of this…

Essential Virtual SAN (6.2) available for pre-order

Our friends over at Pearson and VMware Press have informed us that the second edition of the Essential Virtual SAN book (that I wrote with Duncan Epping) is now available for pre-order on Amazon. It looks like it will be available on June 13th, but VMware Press have told us that they will do what they can to pull the date in a little closer. This new edition covers all of the new features added to Virtual SAN, up to the latest (yet to be released) VSAN 6.2. Here’s some blurb on the new edition, which gives a little insight…

#EssentialVirtualSAN e-book winners

A week or so ago, Duncan & I were given 4 e-book vouchers each from VMware Press for the Essential VSAN book. We decided that the easiest thing to do was to hold a competition to give-away the vouchers. We asked via twitter to give us a reason why you deserved the e-book, using the #essentialvirtualsan hash-tag. The best 8 tweets (and the ones which made us laugh) would get the e-book. These are the ones we selected:

Make us laugh – win an Essential VSAN eBook. Simples!

A couple of weeks ago the electronic version of Essential Virtual SAN was published and this week the first paper copies started shipping! Because of that, Duncan and I decided we will give away 4 e-books each. If you want to win one then please let us know why you feel you deserve to win a copy using the hashtag #essentialvirtualsan on twitter. Duncan and I will decide which 8 tweets will win an eBook, and of course we will favor the ones that┬ámake us laugh – it’s as simple as that! So just to be clear: Tweet why you…

Paper Edition of Essential Virtual SAN (VSAN) now available

I just learnt this morning that the paper edition of the Essential Virtual SAN (VSAN) book that I wrote with my colleague and good pal Duncan Epping is now available. The e-book and kindle versions were available a couple of weeks ago, but its great to see the paper edition hit the shelves. The book will hopefully have all you need to get you up and running with VSAN, including architecture details and design considerations. We tried to include everything that someone involved in VSAN administration would need. I can now appreciate the time and effort that authors put into…

Essential VSAN kindle & ebook versions now available

Well, after almost 8 months of work, the VSAN book that I have been working on with Duncan Epping is finally available for general download. This is the first book I’ve written, and I’ll always be grateful for the guidance and mentoring I received from Duncan. I’m also extremely grateful to a number of people at VMware Press (Pearson) for their willingness to sponsor this project. There are also numerous people at VMware that deserve thanks for their input and support, and you’ll find them listed in the acknowledgements section of the book. We’re hopeful that this book will provide…
