Some nice enhancements to Docker Volume Driver for vSphere v0.7

This week I am over at our VMware HQ in Palo Alto. I caught up with the guys in our storage team who are working on our docker volume driver for vSphere to find out what enhancements they have made with version 0.7. They have added some cool new enhancements which I think you will like. First, this has been designed specifically for docker version 1.12. So the first thing you will have to do is to make sure that your docker is at this latest version. For most distros, this is quite a simple thing to do. But since…

[Updated] This blog has been hacked by vS0ciety

Well, not really. This was a bit of fun. Hope none of you took it too seriously. 😛 The whole point of this marketing/viral video was to highlight the #hackathon that is taking place at VMworld 2016 in Barcelona. This is being held on Monday, Oct. 17, at 18:30.  Check out this link to a blog by Alan Renouf for more info on the #hackathon. You can also watch the video for more details. Can you figure out who is behind the mask? Clue: he enjoys dressing up in costumes. Enjoy!

See you at VMworld Barcelona [Updated]

With less than a month to go, I thought I’d let you know about what I’m up to at VMworld in Barcelona once more this year. Once again, the show is on at the Fira Gran Via, where it has been held since 2012. This makes it the fifth year in a row that the event has been held here. Anyway, on with what I’ll be doing. My session this year will be Virtual SAN day #2 operations. In this session, my good pal Paudie O’Riordan (that handsome guy in the picture on the left – his words, not mine)…

My VMworld Presentations on VSAN are now available

What a VMworld this has been for VSAN. The building momentum of this product is awesome to see, especially for those of us who have been evangelizing it from the beginning. The conversations have changed significantly this year. Previously it was all about “Why should I use VSAN?”. Now that the benefits of VSAN are obvious, the conversations this year were more technical and more around enablement, e.g. “How would I achieve X with VSAN, what are the points I need to consider when I use VSAN for Y, etc?”. As I mentioned in a previous post, this year I…

Some highlights from VMworld 2016

With Virtual SAN gaining huge momentum, I had a pretty busy VMworld 2016 in Las Vegas, and I didn’t have too much free time this year to immerse myself in the Solutions Exchange. However there were a few folks that I did want to catch up with as I had heard that they have some cool new features added to their product sets. So I made a bee-line to check them out. Let me know if you found anything else interesting. I might have a little more time in VMworld Barcelona to check out the solutions exchange and see what…

See you at VMworld 2016

I’m thrilled to have had a session accepted at this year’s VMworld. I’m also going to be a co-speaker on another session. As you might have guessed, both presentations are on Virtual SAN (VSAN), and I am co-presenting both sessions with my buddy Paudie O’Riordan. In the first session, we will be talking about how to conduct a successful proof of concept (PoC) on VSAN, which will cover how to prepare, how to test, and what gotchas you need to be aware of when going through a PoC with VSAN. This session, STO7535, will take place on Wednesday, September 1st…
