New Announcements from Tintri
I met with the guys from Tintri at VMworld 2013 in San Francisco, and they had some nice new products that they were just on the verge of launching. Tintri has already made a number of announcements this year related to replication and availability in their VMstore system. The official new product announcement took place earlier this week (October 8th in fact), just in time for VMworld Europe, so I thought I’d highlight some of the them here.
I’m a big fan of Tintri – particularly their VM centric approach to storage, and their awesome management interface that lets you monitor I/O from virtual machine all the way to disk.
Tintri have now announced their new T600 series of storage systems. There are two new VMstore models, the T650 and the T620. These models are aimed at the mid sized and large enterprises. The VMstore T650 doubles the number of virtual machines that can run on a VMstore, with as many as 2,000 VMs running in a 4U space with sub-millisecond latency. The T620 supports up to 500 VMs. Both models will start shipping in Q4, 2013.
The other major announcement was their new Tintri Global Center which allows management of multiple Tintri VMstore systems through a single interface. Global Center can manage up to 32 VMstore systems, which may be geographically dispersed across different datacenters. Here is a single view of 5 x T650s with top IOPS contributors listed on the right:
You can get more info on the T600 series on their product blog and on Global Center here
Tintri will be exhibiting in booth B418 at VMworld 2013 in Barcelona from October 15-17. I’m sure they would me more than happy to give you an overview of the new products and features.
